Think carefully

Tattoo's are forever so think very carefully before getting one.

While 'ghetto rigged' tats may be cheap or free you do pay for what you get.

You run the risk of infections at the tat site from any numbers of factors. What is being used as ink? What's in it? Is the place your getting it done clean? Is the person giving it to you sick? You are opening yourself up to every germ in the place when breaking the skin.

Does the person giving the tat have any idea what their doing? There is no room for 'mistakes'. No starting over.

End results. You need to be happy with what you end up with. Tattoo artists use ink that rarely causes allergic reactions, clean needles and ink for each customer. The area they work in is cleaned with disinfecting cleaners and they wear gloves and usually a mask for their protection as much as your own.

Tattoo's are a great way for expressing yourself (I have several myself). Just keep in mind that they are forever. What looks cool at 20 may not at 50. Placement of tattoo's should also be given a lot of thought. Most employers don't want someone with large and/or visible tattoo's. Consider placing them where you can choose to show them or not (examples would be upper arm, leg or on your back)
